FACILITY NOTICE
NO.68/2005
1. This Custom House has
been keenly monitoring time taken for clearance of the consignments from the
time of their importation. This has been
in the context of ensuring speedy assessment by the officers so that the
transaction time is reduced. In this
regard, a review and analysis of the dwell time has been conducted by this
Custom House for every month. It is
observed that of
late there has been a speedy increase in
the time taken for the filing of Bill of Entry after the arrival of the
vessel/filing of IGM. In fact, this
constitutes the single largest time slot.
The matter has been discussed with members of the Bombay Custom House
Agents Association. It is suggested that
the reasons for this delay be analysed and reduced –
this will contribute to reduction in the overall dwell time.
2. Similarly it is observed that there is
considerable time being taken after assessments till the payment of duty. It is noticed that it takes about 3 to 4 days
between the assessment of Bills of Entry and payment of duty. Members of the trade may look into this to
get the duty paid at the earliest after assessment. It is felt that this time also can be reduced.
3. It is our endeavour to ensure that the overall time taken between the
arrival of the goods to
its delivery to the
importer is reduced. We would
seek the co-operation of all concerned in this process.
