PUBLIC NOTICE NO 69/2008

 

 

Sub : Amendment of Import General Manifest-reg.

 

 

Attention of Shipping Lines, Shipping Agents, Consol Agents, Carriers,Multi Modal Operators, Break Bulk Carriers/Agents, Consolidators, Freight Forwarders, Importers, CHAs and members of trade are invited to  P.N. No. 14/2008 dtd. 04.02.08 regarding amendment/supplementation of Import General Manifest (IGM). In respect of amendment in Consignee’s Name as per provisions of para 7(iv) (d) of said PN, it was prescribed that Shipping Line filing the application for such amendment/supplementation shall be required to submit indemnity bond equivalent to the value of the goods along with Bill of Lading, Packing List and signed Invoice

2.       A number of references have been received from Shipping Fraternity to do away with the prerequisite of submission of Indemnity Bond by Shipping Line to the Department in respect of amendment sought in IGM in consignee’s/Importer’s name. This issue has been examined by the Department and it has been decided that requirement of indemnity Bond from shipping Line for the purpose of amendment  in Consignee’s Name in  terms of provisions of para 7(iv) (d) of PN  No. 14/2008 dtd. 04.02.08 shall, henceforth, be dispensed with, as a matter of facilitation of trade.

3.        Accordingly, para 7(iv) (d) of P.N. No. 14/2008 dtd. 04.02.08 stands omitted with immediate effect in respect of amendment of Consignee’s Name in IGM. 

 4.      Except for the modification mentioned above, all other provisions of said PN No 14/2008 remain unchanged.

5.       The responsibility of such amendment in IGM rests solely with Shipping Line filing the IGM and applying for such amendment/supplementation in IGM.

6.       The procedure may be followed scrupulously by all for uniformity and any difficulties in implementation/compliance of the Public Notice may be brought to the notice of the Additional Commissioner of Customs, Import Noting.
