E-Payments :: Introduction

Pilot project for mandatory e-payment of customs duty was introduced in Jawaharlal Nehru Custom House with effect from 01.04.08. The e-payment was introduced as a trade facilitation measure for the importers/CHA’s to make their customs payments from their offices for any import at any port.

The e-payment was made mandatory for the top importers of JNCH and optional for other importers. Public Notices No.33/2007 dated 31.07.07, Facility Notice No.30/2008, 31/2008 and 46/2008 dated 20.03.08, 25.03.08 and 29.05.08 and 01/2009 dated 01.01.2009 respectively have been issued.

State Bank of India, Bank of India and Union Bank of India are the nominated banks for accepting e-payments of customs duty.
