In pursuance of the directions of the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Customs Zone-II during the course of the meeting on 8th July, 2015 to review the progress of the pending SAD and NON-SAD refund cases, it has been decided that to address the clearance of old pending claims, a special drive needs to be initiated. Hence, the following directions are issued:-

(i) All the claims pending beyond 3 months should be identified and segregated based on system/register records and physical stock taking of all the SAD and Non-SAD refund files should be undertaken. The list of files should be updated in the register/system.

(ii) The files, which are physically available with the Department should be segregated according to (a) Pending for process, (b) Deficiency Memo issued and (c) final reminder issued and files where Deficiency Memos and final reminders were issued should be processed on priority basis for the logical conclusion.

(iii) An exercise should be undertaken with the assistance of Customs Brokers/Authorized Representatives to identify the claim files, which are not readily traceable with the Department and/or old claims that have already been disposed of but are still being reflected in the records.

(iv) The whole exercise should be completed within 2 weeks and an action taken report should be submitted to the undersigned.
